Conference Online
ICOB Biophotonics White Papers

There will be three ways to publish your work from ICOB:

  1. ICOB Session White Papers: Session leaders will invite individuals who have contributed to the sessions to consolidate the outcomes by writing a concise invited paper on the state of the field. These papers will be around 3,000 words and focus on perspectives, issues and opportunities related to that session topic, amplifying the discussions at ICOB.
  2. ICOB conference submission – all delegates are invited to convert their abstract into a four-page paper due prior to the conference, see submission link, including copyright form below.
  3. ICOB participants are encouraged to develop presentations into full-length papers.  Those papers may be submitted to the Journal of Biomedical Optics, published by SPIE.

Conference proceedings and journal papers will be published in the SPIE Digital Library, along with more than 450,000 papers from other outstanding conferences, SPIE journals, and chapters from SPIE Press books.

Submissions to the proceedings of ICOB should be completed using this link:

Journal of Biomedical Optics

The Journal of Biomedical Optics (JBO) welcomes submissions of expanded manuscripts presented at ICOB. Submissions should be relevant to the journal scope, and should conform to the submission guidelines found at There are no mandatory publication fees associated with publication in JBO. Authors have the choice to publish with open access for a flat fee of $960.

Note that SPIE publication policy permits manuscripts based partly or entirely on scientific content reported in SPIE proceedings to be submitted to SPIE journals. Such submissions do not constitute double publication. In most cases, it is anticipated that the journal submission will represent a substantively expanded, refined, or otherwise revised manuscript relative to the proceedings paper to fully satisfy the standards of significance, originality, and presentation quality of a journal paper.
